EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE, also known as EFT or Tapping, was developed by Gary Craig in 1995 as a simple and effective way to release trapped emotions in the body's energy system, by tapping with finger tips on meridian points on the body in a similar way that needles are used in acupuncture.

Full health and wellbeing depends on life-force energy flowing freely throughout the body. Trapped negative emotions create blocks in the energy pathways preventing the flow of energy to the organs and systems which ultimately leads to ill health and disease. Tapping on points on the face, hands and body releases the build-up of energy bringing instant relief restoring balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit.

EFT reduces stress and supports the immune system by calming the nervous system, releasing cortisol and other stress producing hormones. Tapping deepens the breath leaving the body relaxed, the mind calm and a feeling of lightness and wellbeing.

EFT is a creative and effective self-help tool that brings relief in minutes. It is helpful for anxiety, insomnia, post traumatic stress, pain, phobias, unhealthy behaviour patterns, weight loss and cravings. Almost anything can be tapped on to release negative emotions and replace them with positive feelings. Longstanding issues can be helped as each layer of emotional energy is released bringing clarity and a deeper understanding to the situation. A few minutes of daily tapping supports the immune system reducing stress and keeps the emotions balanced.

The coronavirus pandemic has created unprecedented stress through lockdown, financial loss, death, social isolation and fear of survival. Our nervous systems are in overwhelm, which compromises our immune systems leaving us feeling anxious and vulnerable. Now more than ever we need a way to reduce stress, and EFT offers a simple and effective way of supporting us through challenges and uncertainty.

In line with guidance, hands are washed before tapping and the face points can be missed out if preferred.

Jeanine Brownrigg Hanneman trained as an EFT Practitioner with Passion for Health in 2006 and is a member of The Guild of Energists.

Jeanine instantly made me feel at ease in the session and I found her explanation of how EFT works really enlightening. The technique was easy to follow, and I loved the creativity available within the process. The problem I was working with immediately shifted, and I felt lighter and more relaxed at the end. I also used the tapping to help address another problem at home that evening! Thank you so much Jeanine, I found the whole session inspiring and comforting.
