Join Forest Therapy Guide Laura White, to slow down and connect with the Earth for 3 hours of peace and calm in the beautiful gardens at the Hamblin Centre. During this session, you will connect to Nature all around you using all of your senses, you will go for a gentle, slow and mindful walk around the gardens, you will find a sit spot and connect with a nature being; a tree, a flower, the grass, whatever calls you. You will be given simple invitations to help you connect and deepen your relationship with the land.
Please bring appropriate clothing for the weather on the day. You may want to bring a cushion or something to sit on and also a journal and pen. We will go ahead regardless of the weather unless there are extremely high winds or lightning. We will have somewhere to shelter if it is very wet, but there is also a beauty about being outside in the rain.
Forest Bathing, or Shinrin Yoku, means to bathe and immerse yourself in a forest or natural setting. The term was coined by the Japanese government in the 1980s and is prescribed as a natural remedy for stress-related conditions caused by a rise in technology in the workplace and increased time spent indoors. Studies on the benefits of Forest Bathing have shown a decrease in stress markers such as Cortisol as well as a lowered blood pressure, over time. Phytoncides which are naturally released by trees as a defence against viruses and disease work on humans too, boosting our own immune systems.

“We often forget that WE ARE NATURE. Nature is not something separate from us. So when we say we have lost our connection to nature, we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.”
